All members of Wilmslow Hockey Club are also members of Wilmslow Phoenix Sports Club (WPSC or Phoenix). Phoenix relies on a vital group of volunteers to look after our fabulous clubhouse and grounds for all the sports clubs at Oakwood Farm.
We really need new people to help run Phoenix! Why?
- More tasks to do than the current volunteers can manage
- Current volunteers have been serving for a very long time
- Member expectations of clubhouse, bar and grounds increasing
- We need some new ideas and new energy to develop the club for the future!
Who are we looking for?
- You, your partner, your parents, your grandparents etc
- Your friends, your young adult relatives etc.
- Anyone with some time, energy, commitment and/or skills - however limited.
What skills/support/input are we looking for?
Jobs in and around the clubhouse (examples)
- Bar work – helping out behind the bar on a Saturday afternoon or at an evening function?
- Electrical and Plumbing maintenance e.g. fixing a leaky tap – either fixing yourself or organising quotes for a plumber to get the work done
- Ad-hoc and odd jobs – e.g. repairing hinges, locks
- Key holding – e.g. meet a tradesman during the daytime, or provide access to others
- Health & safety – e.g. risk assessments and improvements.
Jobs in and around the grounds (examples)
- Grounds maintenance – e.g. cutting the grass, using a strimmer, trimming hedges
- Drive maintenance – e.g. filling holes in the drive with stone chippings
- Painting – inside and outside
Desk-based jobs (examples)
- Finance: setting and monitoring the budget, chasing payments, calculating bar profit
- Administration: organising committee meetings, writing minutes, bar discount cards
- Website: re-vamping the Phoenix website and setting up an online events calendar.

Everyone has something to offer. Some jobs are suitable for those with time on their hands during the day and others are suitable for those with less time available – however limited.
