Ladies 2s vs Chester 3s

Ladies 2s vs Chester 3s

After an impressive game on Saturday vs Alderley, the ladies twos had to resurrect their bodies for what should’ve been an easy game against Chester threes.

The game started very evenly with some strong Chester “threes???” ladies piling the pressure on early doors.

Wilmslow remained calm and composed and took their first chance on goal to go 1-0 up. Famke skilled her way through four defenders and effortlessly lifted the ball into the top left of the goal. And we were off!!!

A well drilled move from newly positioned CF famke soon after set up Kate taylor at the back post for a very well taken tap in second goal.

The wilmslow nerves were calmed yet again from the skill and pace of our wonder youngsters contributing to the early lead.

The solid back four of Charlie, nemma, Anya and feg transferred the ball round the back effortlessly and continously. There were some lovely industrious interceptions and strong dribbling skills from nemma and Charlie in the centre of the defense. Charlie even managed to get “tackled” by a girl who lost her stick!

Emma also made some excellent early doors saves to ensure Chester didn’t make too much of an unwelcome comeback.

The midfield were solid throughout the game with Georgia, Sophie, Mabel and Nic holding the fort keeping the Chester threes skilful decent players quiet. Nic was on form again despite suffering a bout of “skiers knee”. And “Nails” forward Rachel p managed to skip through the midfield supporting the front line up despite overdosing on the volterol and ibruprofen for her bad back.

The second half started well from the off with a mega reverse goal from super sub Thea and then a wonderful deflection to beat the keeper from a super hard working, posting and skilful issy.

At this point the game was over and Chester started to get increasingly frustrated. Ruth scored a down the middle PC through the keepers legs at fifty five mins and Thea completed a weekend of goals to completely end Chester’s hopes of an easy game or win. The game was completed with an extra curricular 50m sprint between Ruth and Thea back to the D to support the defense. Sprint times will be published in due course 😆

Ruth managed to get MOM and DOD at the same time which is quite a special feat.

Great work gang!!!

Special note #1 to Jen smith and Estelle who suffered injuries and couldn’t make the match- get well soon.

Special note #2 to our wonderful management and coaching team soph and Liam (and Colin) who are clearly doing something right with the team with all this winning

Special note #3# It was noted that jelly babies are no longer being provided at half time. It’s hoped that the management/ the people who usually go out of their way to buy them will continue for the mental wellbeing/good of the team
