Car park extension complete

The extension to the club car park is complete and the car park is now in use.

The car park extension is the first step towards the potential future construction of a second astroturf pitch at the club. While we have no immediate plans to raise funds or construct the second astro, completion of the car park constitutes the "breaking ground", the first tangible step towards a second astro. It therefore preserves our planning permission indefinitely, until we are ready to proceed.

While the central part of the car park is tarmac, the parking spaces themselves are semi-permeable, allowing rain water to pass through rather than rush into the drains or along the surface. The access road has been partly re-surfaced at this stage.

The car park extension has been funded partly from a grant from the Wilmslow Running Festival (a direct benefit of the club providing marshals for this event every year) and partly by Wimslow Phoenix Astroturf Limited (WPAL), who operate the current pitch and "sinking fund" (for pitch renewal) on behalf of the hockey club.

We owe a big thanks to Alan Murdoch for his patience, commitment and dedication to making this happen. Alan has led the planning application for the second pitch and led the tendering and construction of the car park extension. This modest construction is a major milestone on the way to a second astro - one day.
