Coaches at Wilmslow Hockey Club

Men's/Ladies Coach - Sam Williams

Sam joined us for the 2024/2025 season to lead training for the Men's 1s/2s and support junior coaching. During 2025/26 Sam will continue to coach the Men's 1/2s teams and juniors, but will now also coach the Ladies 2s.

Sam has played hockey right from the age of 13 all the way to Men's 1s team and county level. He has coached Ladies 1s and Ladies 2s at Bolton as-well as the Mens 2s-3s. Sam has also coached juniors for many years. Sam is currently the Greater Manchester county U17 boys lead coach and the assistant coach for U12/13 boys teams too. Sam is qualified as a level 1 coach but working towards his level 2 certification. Sam is also a level 3 umpire and umpires national league games from time to time! 

Ladies Coach - Matt Bonner

Matt is a longstanding player and coach at our club. Starting this year, Matt will be coaching Ladies 3/4/5s.

Matt is a Level 1 coach and brings outstanding playing experience to his coaching role, having previously coaches juniors and adults.

Junior Coach - David Middleton Egan

Dave has led Junior Coaching for Under 8s for the last 2 years and we are delighted he will continue in 2025/2026. ave is a PE teacher with extensive experience of sports coaching and making training fun.

Dave has taken on the role of Juniors Club Captain this year and will be working hard with coaches, parents and schools to grow the juniors section, retain our existing junior players and help the older juniors make a successful transition to senior teams at age 13/14.

Junior Coach - Holly McCurrie

Holly has led Junior Coaching at the club since 2022/23 and we are delighted she will continue in 202/26

Holly has played and coached hockey at Warrington for many years at at Wilmslow for the last few years. Holly has been a Junior Development Officer as a qualified Hockey Coach for 2 seasons, and has brought her experience and knowledge to Wilmslow.

With a background in sports education for young children, Holly puts put an emphasis on making sure her children in sessions are developing through fun and enjoyment in their hockey sessions. With thorough detailled planning, she likes to bring activities to help all our children develop at their own pace through a range of drills which are then developed into games based hockey.
