This is my fourth draft of this match report….Teamo I hate you.
So, Saturday
Sunshine. Tick
Great warm up. Tick
Bag of tasty sour sweets. Tick
Tracy Moir goal. Tick
One nil up at half time, what could possibly go wrong?
Well…
Winnington came out all guns blazing for the second half, equalizing fairly swiftly. Wilmslow worked hard in defence to repel the oppo but somehow, Eileen hammered a great strike from the edge of the D. It whistled into the goal like something unpleasant off a shovel OR like a knife through butter.
Take your pick, the result was the same, we were 2-1 down.
Despite the whole team working hard ( we were scared not to after Vice Captain Tracy’s half time talk!) we failed to convert any chances into goals. Maybe the 30 degree heatwave sapped our killer instinct.
Anyway, disappointingly, unfairly, annoyingly, we lost 2-1. Plenty of positives to take the the next game, well done team, we worked hard and didn’t deserve nul points.
