Opening Ceremony for Jim Barrow Stand
Posted by WHC Secretary Admin Account on 26 January 2020
Our fabulous new 70 seat spectator stand was formally opened by Pat Barrow, Jim's widow, in a short ceremony led by Steve Kinsella, WHC President. We were delighted also to welcome Jim's son, Bruce, and his brother Don for the occasion. There was a great turnout from across the club together with representation from England Hockey as Julie Longden was amongst the crowd.
The stand now has a name sign fully in keeping with the stand and new astro - many thanks to Rick Menlove for managing the design and installation of the new sign which looks fantastic as you can see from the picture below
From L - R, Steve Kinsella, Pat Barrow, Bruce Barrow and Don Barrow.
The Men's 5s also welcomed Bruce for what was intended as a brief cameo appearance which turned out to last most of the match against Timpereley, complete with green card ! The rules have changed since Bruce last played competitively - but hopefully he enjoyed his run out as much as we did ! But we all enjoyed the range of sandwcihes provided by le Sandwich for guests and players alike.
